B. S. K. College, Barharwa, established in 1978, has emerged recently a prominent institution for sound academic atmosphere & discipline. It is the lone college between the districts of Sahibganj & Pakur where education in 21 subjects of the faculties of Arts, Science & Commerce is imparted up to Hons. levels. The college is situated in the damin-e-koh socially & economically backward area having no known institute and industry. Thus its role in imparting education. rising awareness and enabling the youth of the area to inculcate their personality & play a vital role in making of India.
The college having enrolled strength of about four thousand, has produced a large number of scholars in the different disciplines. It's now a well known fact that the traditional studies alone can not create opportunity of employment in plenty specially global and technical world. So there is a demand for the study of vocational courses.
Mission of the college is to provide the opportunity of having degree of higher education to every youth of the area populated by ST, SC, OBC, Minority and others and to fulfill the main objectives of U.G.C to link education to knowledge and bread.
The college has vision to inculcate national energy and strengthen unity and harmony and to play a significant role in emerging India a global power through learning skill based knowledge along with general teachings so that our cultural heritage may stand unaffected and we may compete with the developing powers.
Youth of the area of Santhal Pargana have opportunities to have higher education in 21 subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce and vocational education in B.C.A, B.B.A and B,Lib & Information Science. Very soon we are going to start Diploma courses in Banking and financial services and Beauty & Wellness and three year course in InformationTechnology under NQSF scheme of the U.G.C.
